I did a Youku 优酷 thing ?

youku pic

I’m sooooo excited. As a way to push myself to study and master the foreign languages I’ve studied, I make Youtube videos. The problem is, half of my friends can’t see them because YouTube is blocked in China, they use Youku instead. I have not been able to successfully navigate a Chinese website until now. I can read a whole 8% of whats going on lol, but I managed to post my video!!!!

I mentioned in an earlier post that I posted a few videos to Youtube, and they take me literal days to translate and create subtitles for. But it’s a labor of love and I’m very excited that I was able to get my video on Youku by myself 😀 I feel all of ten years old right now but I’m super excited! pic

So check it out in America here, or on the “Chinese Youtube” here. Either way, thanks for watching 🙂

So, I did a YouTube thing?

favorite apps youtube

As part of a personal challenge to improve my Mandarin, I started a YouTube Channel to force me to study, the same way some ESL classes require the students to start a blog.

Boy, I’ve learned all about cameras, lighting, image editing software, filmography, post production, translating, captions and subtitling. I felt overwhelmed many times.

But I’ve finally launched Chanchantv with a handful of videos that took me seconds to shoot, hours to edit and ACTUAL DAYS to translate and embed subtitles. It truly is a labor of love and I hope my friends, family and you guys can enjoy them n_n

Until next time 🙂

Looking forward to my next Straightening n_n

download_20150801_153153

I am uubbbeer excited about straightening my hair this year (blow out and flat iron, I’m never perming again). I only use heat in my hair every 1-2 years, so I never really know how long it is. This year I will do it in September, because I paid a lot of money ($90 silk press & trim) and it only lasted 24 hours! So this time I’m going to do it in September or October when it’s cooler out and will last longer. I went o Gio Natalya VIP Hair Salon on Liberty Ave in Queens, NY. Here’s their instagram.

Here’s before the blow out:

Here’s after, while I’m waiting for a trim and flat ironing:

Here’s the finished look, a press and curl by flat iron:

annnnd here’s the next friggin day -_-

But on the bright side, when it curled up again, the front stayed flat and made my hair look INCREDIBLE !

So that was my experience from last year. Here’s hoping this time itll stay straight longer.

I was feeling fly lol

Ethnic App Preferences?

App Thumnail

So I’ve noticed a trend among my friends of various Eastern Asian backgrounds. It appears some of them gravitate towards specific apps. For example, most of my Chinese friends use WeChat or WeiXin (微信).

My Japanese friends tend to use Line

And my Korean friends use KaoKao talk and What’s App.

I wonder if the divide or preference has to do with the region the app was created in, but as far as I know LINE is a Korean app, but is mostly used by Japanese people. *Shrugs* lol, just a thing I’m wondering about.
