Tried My First Hair Wrap n_n

So I bought and tried my first hair wrap n_n. I got it from a company called the Wrap Life,  its the Labelle style in Orange. It doesn’t come with any instructions, and the YouTube tutorials are mindblowingly unhelpful, lol but it encourages creativity. Here’s me having some fun with it. The wraps come in beautiful colors and styles and I had a lot of fun with it. Oh it cost $22-27/wrap depending on the style and color you get. I find that affordable and the wraps are surprisingly easy to coordinate with everyday clothing.

French Crown Braids FTW!

Latest Stuff to Sort 027

So I’ve been obsessed with this style lately. I like it because its easy to do, lasts for 3-7 days if you sleep with a satin cap, and can be modified in a variety of different ways (adding a marley hair bun, flat twist bangs, etc.) It can take me from work, to class, to cocktails, so I’m loving it!

It’s great for summer and keeps me from throwing on my hair extensions in a panic lol.

Image

Been a savin’ and a scrimpin’. I can’t wait to own these. I’m aiming to own these for Winter 2014.

So the lowdown on these klips. They’re 100% human hair and run by Lana Boone, a woman with a great hair journey. She has tons of helpful tips and and stuff on her youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/KurlyKlips

UPDATE 06/16

I actually bought these in March 2015, its been a year and a half and I have been happy with them. My hair is actually closer to 2 color than 1B, and so was the donor’s hair so luckily I did not have to dye them, but dye them I did lol. Here’s a pic of me wearing my klips n_n, a detailed post about them coming sooon.

Afro Selfie-1

As you can tell I’m terrible at blogging lol, sooooo here’s to try try again n_n. My hair has grown a lot and so slideshow. No one reads this anyway, so I’m off the hook–possibly lol. I’ve recently gotten into photography. I’m an avid hobbyist who is addicted to Adobe Lightroom. I just spent about four hours messing with it. Anywho , enjoy le pics.

Afro Summer 2016

That Big Chop though…

I ended up big chopping in July 14 (eight months of transitioning. I couldn’t take the two textures anymore. I had wanted to transition for 1.5 years like other girls I had seen on YouTube, but lol it wasn’t in the cards for me.

So I cut it, and got pissed off! Because I didn’t see any curls. It turns out IO had to wet my hair for it to show up lol. 20140709_161307

Threw some ECO Styler gel in there, and I was feeling myself lol.

The Beach… effed up my hair lol.

Ahh the beach. Fun in the sun, waves, and sparkling sand.
Try, murderously hot rays frying my poor ends, salty ass waves depositing anti hair minerals in my scalp and that hot ass sand digging its way into my kinks making knots.

NOT FUN.
Armed with my spray bottle of water, Shea Moisture stuff for damaged hair (the yellow one. My hair isn’t actually damaged, but I bought it before the pink curling souffle stuff came out so its all I have) and essential oils mix in handy nozzled bottle, I thought I could stay cute.

Didn’t happen. I enjoyed the water and waves, and then my hair dried. I had a bomb ass twist out the day before, so MISTAKE #1 i went to the beach with second day hair. This after a semi BC of my sides and back for a tapered look. I still have relaxed ends on the top of my head mohawk style. Well, they dried straight and the rest didn’t and #transitioningproblems.

So this was before the semi BC, and the first time I left it free since Nov 13′:

2nd Day hair.... mistake numero uno...

2nd Day hair…. mistake numero uno…

So, lol it DID not turn out well.

Good things to note: Saturating the hair with water prior to going in is a MUST. Try to plait/braid your hair before going to the beach, 2nd day hair is not cute afterwards lol at least not for a beginner like me.

There ya have it, my beach day ^^

Better posts coming up! Stay trendy

Shea Butter how I love thee…

Hey guys,
TBG here with some good news. So I broke down and bought a transitioning hair kit by Shea Butter Moisture. It cost me $24 and came with a deep conditioner, shampoo, a deep treatment masque and argon oil spray.

The deep treatment masque is also a leave in that made my hair feel like heaven.  What I did was apply a liberal amount to my fingers as I was twisting and words can not describe the  moisture. I swear my hair was thanking me.

Here’s a pic of bantu knots without the shea butter:

They look alright but trust me my hair was sooo DRY. It’s kind of scary because my hair started breaking and shedding due to the rough treatment I was putting it through. Olive oil hair moisturiser is NOT enough lol. I was using Jamaican black castor oil and olive oil hair lotion (typically comes in a green bottle) for the bantu knots and it’s not enough.

This is the transitioning kit and it’s constituents:

And individually:

Reconstruction Finishing Oil

I used the masque while twisting and sprayed the finishing oil on my scalp when I was done before putting on a satin cap. My hair feels light, fluffy and looks well moisturised. I’m very pleased.

So I will definitely be purchasing a larger version of these products. My natural friends told me to try Cream of Nature, but my YouTube hair idols use Shea Butter Moisture so I tried that instead.

Remember, everything doesn’t work for everybody. Try different things and see what works for you.

As always,
your friend TBG!
